Induction furnaces operate based on the following principles:
- Electromagnetic Induction: When an alternating current (AC) flows through a
coil, it creates a rapidly changing magnetic field around the coil. If a metal
object is placed within this changing magnetic field, eddy currents are induced
in the metal due to electromagnetic induction.
- Power Supply: Induction furnaces require a high-frequency alternating current
power supply, typically at frequencies of several kilohertz to several
megahertz. This power supply provides the necessary electrical energy to the
induction coil.
